NOT the good day at Kirra, but still fun
Photo posted at 19:13
I’m down to my last two days over here in Australia, then it’s back to CA and FL. Gabe and I got some of the waves of our lives (Undocumented, in the rain) at Kirra the other night and it made this trip all the more amazing. Now the surf is back to flat and onshore, Gabe is flat on his back with some strange stomach virus, and our sherpa friend Michael Dunphy (Who hasn’t been back in the USA since George W was still our president) is icing his broken nose after an incident with his surfboard at lennox yesterday. Gotta take some bad with the good sometimes I guess. Hopefully these two can nurse themselves back to surf shape soon, especially Gabe, as he’s off to Tasmania, Margaret River, and the WCT at Bells in the coming months. Oh yeah, and I love chicken.

Scuba Steve to be featured on National News tomorrow (friday)
From Ryan McInnis:
Tune in to any of the major morning shows tomorrow (Friday); from 7am on myself and DJ Struntz will be doing the circuit in NYC discussing the scary Tiger Shark incident we shared last summer. After the recent OUTSIDE Magazine feature, front page of the NY Post today (and of course the article in Surf Carolina) it seems the world wants to know what happened. We’ll be focusing on the selectivity and ethicalities of spearfishing and the importance of ocean awareness and conservation, but also explaining why this Tiger shark unfortunately was killed. Post or pass along this message if you think our community would like to check it out.
Thanks,
Ryan McInnis
Tune in for the story of this unfortunate kill:

Dylan on his big Fijian Adventure

Dylan talking about his recent trip to Fiji where he won Nixon’s annual high tide hold em:

Fiji is the best place to do a surf trip ever. Too easy for anything you want to do. You wanna surf? catch a boat out to cloud break. You wanna fish? load up a cooler of beers and get on the next fishing boat and if you want to take it to the next level, spew off the bow after skipping lunch and charging 2 straight fishing boats and baking in the midday sun, that’s my specialty :) Or you can just lounge by the pool and have a mellow bronze fest and relax. Either way you living the dream. This trip took all of that to the next level, giving you incentive to drink beer during all activities (which were surfing, fishing, spear fishing, ping pong, poker, karaoke and the infamous kiddieland comp) and rewarding you if you get loose enough to win any of the events. One of the funnest trips one could ever be a part of. Words cannot express how stoked I was to be the overall winner. Muchas gracias to everyone at Nixon for inviting me!!!!
BULA!
